Greetings to our Members!

The Lloydminster Curling Club Board of Directors and staff welcome you to the 2020/2021 curling season!  We have been busy working on your behalf to ensure this season is a success. Given these uncertain times, we are thankful to have the opportunity to open up our leagues and resume play once again.

A huge thank you goes out to our staff (Laurie, Brian, Graydon, Zoe and Gage) for all of their hard work getting things up and running this year.  We also want to acknowledge and thank all of our sponsors for contributing to the Club and for helping keep curling alive and thriving in our community.  We also want to thank Andrew and his team at Harvest to Home for our continued relationship and his willingness to assist our Club in providing food and beverage services.

This is going to be an exciting, yet challenging, year for our Club.  There are a lot of moving parts to this season and the staff and Board of Directors kindly ask for your patience and understanding as we progress through the year.  Return to play guidelines have been developed by Curling Canada and we strongly encourage all of our members to review this document and watch the video illustrations:  https://www.curling.ca/return-to-play/.  COVID waiver forms and weekly sign-in sheets will need to be completed by all participants.

As in years past, we kindly ask that you are diligent in marking your wins and losses each week on our website.  If you need to cancel a game, we prefer that you use the website for this as it will notify all members of the opposition in addition to the Curling Club receiving notification of this as well.  To find this function (you will need to log in as a member first), go to “Member’s Home” tab, “League Information”, “Teams, Schedules, Standings”. From there you will find your specific league and will select “Teams”, then on the far right side of the page is a black and red mail icon that you can select to notify the teams. All members of the opposing team will receive an email advising of the cancellation. This process may sound tedious, but it will be a quicker and more efficient way to keep everyone informed. If you prefer the traditional method, please contact the opposition and Laurie Makichuk at [email protected] or 780-871-1589, so that she can relay that information to the ice technician team.

Board member information can also be found under the “Our Club” tab on our website. Additionally, the Board of Directors are looking for volunteers to assist in any capacity. Our staff and Board are stretched thin this year and any extra time that our members could spare would be greatly appreciated. You can sign up to volunteer on our website under the “Member’s Home” tab, or contact Laurie Makichuk for more details.

We wish you all the best this curling season!
